WTPA is considered the “largest regional association in the world” because of its vast geographic area. The Association is composed of weekly, semi-weekly and small daily newspapers in the great West Texas area with Fort Davis, Fort Stockton, Hondo, Gatesville, Perryton, Vernon, Burkburnett, Decatur and Dallas being the fringe area cities.

  • 3rd Place: TIE 225 points: The Graham Leader and Lampasas Dispatch Record

Division C

  • 1st Place: 650 points Fredricksburg Standard-Radio Post
  • 2nd Place: 525 points Iowa Park Leader
  • 3rd Place: 350 points Glen Rose Reporter

Division D

  • 1st Place: 400 points The Albany News
  • 2nd Place: 375 points The Clarendon Enterprise
  • 3rd Place: 275 points Joshua Star

The West Texas Press Association and Texas Press Association will award the Bob Craig Memorial Scholarship of $2,000, payable over two semesters at $1,000 per semester, during which journalism courses are taken at the recipient’s college of choice.

Graduating seniors interested in applying for the scholarship must live in the general area encompassed by West Texas Press Association member newspapers, and plan to major in Print Advertising or Journalism.

You are invited to become an active member of a very unique organization, comprised of people very much like yourself. Hardworking newspaper folk, dedicated to service to their community, join together in the West Texas Press Association to keep up with fast changing technology and the development of innovative ideas.
